This exceptional time capsule with original dealer documentation has been well maintained and respected for nearly forty-one years and it shows. The very straight exterior body shows new two stage paint with a reproduction decal kit for which compliments abound and she turns heads everywhere we take her! Remarkably, the polyurethane bumpers are straight (not wavy as is usual) likely only attributable to the car having been consistently garaged. Of course all of the body panels still have their original bonding strips and no repairs or cracks are evident. The headlights pop up and down well, all of the exterior brake lights and turn signals work as do the wipers. All of the factory weatherstrip remains soft to the touch and is an 8 out of 10. The doors open and close well. The new raised white letter radials look great mounted onto the factory optioned and polished slotted aluminum wheels. The original spare tire (looks never to have been on the ground) and even the spare tire courtesy light remains functional! Of course the spare tire tub looks great bc no one has ever put a jack underneath it! New performance mufflers have been installed on the car. The interior is the “silver gray” which closely approximates the “oyster” color of previous Corvette model years. As such, original carpet and door panels show soil and wear over the years. Thus, we replaced the seat covers, door panels and carpet with Corvette America/ Top Flight reproductions. We also replaced the seat belts with new reproduction webbing and retractors they sometimes get caught in the door catch there marring the webbing. The power windows and power door locks still work like new. The steering column is nice and tight and both the steering wheel as well the brake pedal show very little to no noticeable wear. Even the gauges still look like beautiful and still work gas gauge under reads. The original stereo still works (with new front speakers) as well the power antenna. The original jack and handle remain underneath the rear compartment tray. This is a great looking original motor compartment. The numbers matching 350 Cubic Inch motor has plenty of get up and go. Starting in 1972, Chevrolet horsepower specs were re-calculated from “gross horsepower” to net horsepower. Previously, horsepower was measured on a blueprinted engine without the accessories: i. Alternator, A/C, P/S etc. Combined with de-tuning from the factory to meet emission’s standards compliance, these Corvettes get an undeserved bad horsepower rap. Regardless, the drive-train is spirited and will put you back in your seat. The car has received a complete tune up including all new wires, plugs, cap, rotor, belts, hoses, filters, valve cover gaskets, front and rear main seals, pan gasket, starter and battery, together with a complete fluids change. The car also stops great with four rebuilt disc brake calipers, including new pads and rotors. When we put four new tires on the car, we also went ahead and serviced the suspension with all four ball joints, a-arm bushings and four new shocks. Thus, the car received a fresh alignment and it tracks straight down the road. Even the A/C has been historically maintained but could probably use a top off to blow so cold as possible once again. As matter of preventative maintenance, we replaced the heater core and the air box gaskets with new correct factory molded heater hoses.
